A national board certified and state licensed profession, Occupational Therapy helps people to develop skills necessary for living independent and satisfying lives. OTs are skilled professionals whose education includes studying human growth and development with special emphasis on the social, emotional, and physical responses to the effects of injury or illness. OTs focus on developing and strengthening the fine motor skills required for performing daily self care tasks, participating in leisure activities, and completing household and work tasks without pain. OTs are prepared to work with people of all ages who are dealing with life challenges.
At Orlanu Therapies, the Physical and Occupational Therapists will often share their patients, setting personal goals with each patient and creating a multidisciplinary rehab program. Our treatment plan is "wholistic," addressing the entire person, emphasizing releasing the residual effects of past traumas and pain, and re-establishing better alignment and strength for easier function and improved quality of life.
Our therapists have advanced education in various manual techniques and therapeutic exercise programs, addressing the muscles, connective tissues, and joints to improve mobility, strength, and ease pain. (Please see Treatment Techniques Section, below, for specific explanations).
Our treatment plans also include stress management strategies, and breathing techniques. Individualized exercise programs are developed to further achieve the highest level of independent function.
At Orlanu, we are continuously working with you, finding the most effective strategies to reduce your pain symptoms and to help you get your life back!
